Terms of use.
When you log into this web site you agree to abide by these terms of use. The terms of use are here to ensure a nice environment for all our visitors. We do not have a huge amount of rules, but please abide by the few we have as well as using your own common sense.
Piracy and Warez... This website, although it hosts remakes of crack intros is only concerned with the intros, we do not condone or participate in piracy, we merely exist to appreciate the intros that the groups used. You must not post any copyrighted material on this website, any violations of this will be dealt with severely. You should know that the site software records your IP details which would if necessary be passed to the relevant authorities like FACT.
Soliciting aid for piracy... Because of the nature of this web site, there are some members here who are very profficient at coding small intros. If you are currently active in the scene, you may not use this web site software to try and enlist members of this community to make crack intros for your group. Please do not try to link any members of this website with any currently active warez group, if you do so we will have no choice but to ban you.
Racism and discrimination... We do not condone it and we would ask you not to victimise any particular group of people in society or to post anything inciteful.
Pr0n... Please do not post any pictures that would be considered illegal in the UK. That means that it's probably ok to post mild porn pics, but no hardcore stuff please.
Moderators and Admins... The moderators and admins are here to ensure that the site runs nicely and everyone is fair to each other, they also have the ability to update screen shots, prod info, edit any post, and they also have a range of tracking and punitive tools at thier disposal. Because we appointed them as representatives of this web site, they are trusted to ensure the smooth running of it. If you have extra info for a prod, please post it in the comments and an admin will fix it for you. If you violate the rules in some way then similarly any member of the admin team have the right to resolve it in the way that they see fit.
Trolling... Ok we know that there are lots of people who love remakes, this is why this site is here, we also know that there are lots of people who don't like remakes. Hopefully you joined because you like them, if you've come on here just to cause trouble then don't bother, any bullshit posts and malicious voting is very easily rectified. A problem user can be banned and all his posts / votes gone in one mouse click, this is not an unmoderated site by any means and if you fuck around you will be booted off with no opportunity to return. This is to protect the site for everyone else.
Advertising... If you came here to sell your viagra pills or some other scam, you can go somewhere else. Similarly if you came here to just post once and expect to be in the links, again, go somewhere else. We don't need you.
If you have a valid website that would interest the users here, and you are a productive member of this web site, that is to say you are here quite often and take part, then we will usually be happy to add you to our links page.
Members Websites... Please see above. In addition to this you may also have your website in your signature and in your profile, and nowhere else please! This is of course you are not linking to any content that is illegal.
Hosting our remakes on your site... The remakes are all freely downloadable, feel free to re-distribute the remakes to your immediate friends as long as you leave the info file intact inside the zip file. You may NOT host any of these remakes on your own web site without our permission in writing. If WE have uploaded a remake onto your website, then you can consider that we gave you permission for that remake only.
General... Please do not consider this as an exhaustive list because we will be making ammendments from time to time. It's your responsibility to keep up to date with them.

General Overview:
This website came into being because Stormbringer made a remake of an Agile crack intro, this was for a competition on another website called dbfinteractive.com, there is a cool place called Flashtro.com where you can go to view excellent flash remakes of past cracktros which are great, but we quickly began to see the value of making stand alone exe versions as well.
These remakes are not meant to replace Flash intros, they never were, however because we have an exe format we are not limited to the capabilities of Flash which means that you can view them in higher resolution and with proper sound emulation. Flash is great to view the intros quickly so it's nice to have both we think.
After we had re-made a few intros, a forum was put in place as a temporary place holder for the remakes, and further along the line, as we approached the 100 remake mark we put this new portal in place because we felt that they deserved a good home and we really saw that there was a gap out there for a web site like this.
We require people to join because this way we can get feedback about the intros, hopefully create a community with some oldschool scene spirit and since registered members can comment, etc, our portal keeps track of what you view, download, comment and vote on so that we can keep accurate tallies of what's been downloaded and also so we can give you some useful info for example letting you know what you havent downloaded for your personal collection yet. It's all good and we hope that you'll enyoy the portal that we made for you. We do take the point that not everyone likes to register for loads of websites but then again, we understand fully that unless you require something of your users then what you do loses its value so there's no point in trying to get us to change our views on registration. If you want to take part, you need to register, if you don't want to register you are missing out on a great place.

Disputes and Administration:
If you violate the terms of use for this web site, it will be dealt with by a moderator or administrator and the action we take will largely depend on the severity of what you did. The decision of a moderator or administrator is considered by retro-remakes.net to be the final decision.
Steps that can be taken include:
We may edit your post if it is innapropriate.
We may totally delete your post if editing it is unfeasible, for example all the content is not allowed.
We may decide to restrict your account for a certain amount of time (decided case by case)
You may have voting disabled
You may have commenting disabled
You may have downloading disabled
You may have bbs posting disabled
Or any combination of the above.
We may decide to remove one, some or all of your comments, bbs posts and votes.
For severe cases we may decide to permanently ban an account.

Submissions:
We really welcome submissions for logos and also for remakes of course!
Logos should be:
580 Wide X 210 Tall (as an absolute maximum)
Background should be pure black (#000000) or transparrent
We really do need high quality logos you will be rewarded with bonus "SLAMS" if your logo is used!
Remake submissions:
We have some quality control here, generally speaking, please try and make a remake of something that we don't already have. The remake should be to run in Windows, please make it compatible with Windows XP, Windows 98 and Vista, you are not restricted to Amiga, you may remake for any platform, the portal can handle multiple platforms.
It's important to us that you make your remake at least 90% accurate as a minimum, this is to maintain the quality we have already. Again, we are really grateful for any remakes you come up with.
